I do wish sometimes substack had $1 options. I got a bit of budget I could support some writers, but trying to pick 2 of them at $5 is much harder than a top 10...

But I cannot comment and nothing points me to how to do it. Apparently there are others with the same problem.

I tried to leave a comment on your post about live action Disney movies. It would not let me comment. It said I needed to be a paid subscriber.

I wanted to say that I did not understand your timeline starting in 1959. Your arguments do not refer to any of the live action Disney movies I remember from my youth, which for this purpose spanned roughly 1959 to 1967 (ages 6-14). Toward the end of that I had outgrown kids movies, although I did justify Mary Poppins on the basis of being required to bring my baby brother to see it. The Disney movies that stick in my memory are The Shaggy Dog, Swiss Family Robinson, The absent Minded Professor, Moon Pilot, Bon Voyage!, Almost Angels, The Legend of Lobo, In Search of the Castaways, Son of Flubber, The Incredible Journey, Emil and the Detectives, Those Calloways, and The Fighting Prince of Donegal. These were mostly seen in real movie theaters, but I also watched much of what was shown on the Walt Disney TV show at the time.

If your timeline started with the death of Disney in the sixties, it would make more sense. but as it sits I think it lacks historical understanding.
