I didn't find it "pretentious and confusing". It was the coldest and most coherent part of all 3 (4) movies.

The rest of the movie is Not Good. I mean, the action is fun. but the only two parts worth rewatching are the Burly Brawl and the Architect parts.
I don't get why this idea is dangerous, after all there's by definition no way to act on it.
As soon as it becomes Common Knowledge, the spell breaks. That's the action.
